What a contrast! On the one hand there’s the Christian message: “It was for freedom that Christ set us free!” On the other hand, there’s the legalism of man-made religion, and Paul says these legalists should go ahead and make themselves “sterile” (i.e., castrate themselves) so they would be consistent with their sterile message!
